Job Description

Our client was established to commercialise ground-breaking research from the Wellcome Sanger Institute into the role of the human microbiome in health and disease. Their increasing knowledge of the microbiome represents a paradigm-shift in our understanding of human biology, creating major opportunities for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases, including infections, autoimmune disorders and cancer. The microbiome has therefore become one of the most exciting areas for research and translational science in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Our client’s class-leading platform enables precise and large-scale identification of gut bacteria associated with health or disease, enabling the design of novel medicines and biomarkers based on live bacteria. In just two years, the company has established itself as an industry leader, having won four awards and recently signed a $534m strategic multi-year deal with a global biotech.

They are now seeking a driven, organised and proactive individual to lead the Fermentation group in the Preclinical Development Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic scientist to play a key role in building a young biotech company and to contribute to the development of a new class of medicines. Candidates are required to have a PhD in Microbiology or Bioprocess Engineering, with 5 years post doc industrial experience in a bioprocess development environment utilising fermentation technology.
