David has worked in the life science/biotech/pharmaceutical industry for over 30 years. After a first degree in Biochemistry and Doctorate in Computational Chemistry at the University of Oxford, he started his career as a scientist with Glaxo, before moving on to scientific management with drug discovery companies in the UK and then the USA.
In 1995 he transitioned into Business Development and initiated a drug discovery services group that he promoted globally, securing and directing long-term multi-$M contracts and collaborations with companies in the USA, Europe and Japan.
He continued his career heading Business Development teams then moved into consultancy, providing business development expertise and resource to a range of SMEs. In 2009 he undertook his first CEO role in Belgium, leading the transformation of the company, a move into a new market, securing new funding, and taking the first products to market.
Most recently he was CEO of a company manufacturing oligonucleotide reagents, where he turned around performance by driving transformation of the management team, increasing commercial activity, and implementing new structures and processes.
He was worked in a range of markets including: molecular diagnostics, genomics, bioinformatics, small molecule and antibody discovery, nanotechnology, stem-cells, and affinity reagents.
David has also experienced and successfully worked through many challenging commercial scenarios, including technology restrictions, finance limitations and personnel issues.
