The Pistoia Alliance is a global, not-for-profit members’ organization. This group shared the opinion that Life Science R&D was changing beyond recognition, and that organizations could not afford to ‘go it alone’ in order to integrate emerging technologies and continue to deliver life-changing therapies to patients. The Pistoia Alliance’s projects help to overcome common obstacles to innovation and to transform R&D – whether identifying the root causes of inefficiencies, working with regulators to adopt new standards, or helping researchers implement AI effectively.
The role will oversee a core capability of the Pistoia Alliance including all internal functions aimed at planning, instituting, and executing the Pistoia Alliance’s Innovation and Member-led projects. This leader will work in partnership with the Commercial Team and report to the President. The Pistoia Alliance has been developing activities including conferences, projects, communities of interest, and a seed fund for innovative projects. It is expanding its membership globally. The Alliance is now seeking to accelerate growth across its project portfolio. The Pistoia Alliance Board of Directors has identified the need to sharpen its focus on the project portfolio with a mission-attentive, well-connected, and process-minded yet agile and pragmatic leader.
The ideal candidate will have a strong project/programme management expertise but also a commercial bias with a track record of scaling an organization, developing a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals, and facilitating the Alliance to deliver a valued portfolio for its members. The role holder must be an adept matrix manager as currently, all project managers work on a part-time basis.
