Oxford nanoSystems (OnS) is a materials technology business that develops advanced and highly innovative coating technologies. OnS’ coatings enhance the performance of systems used for energy conversion and transfer. The Company is backed by investors with a track record of success from the Oxford technology community.
From its formation in 2012, OnS spent a number of years researching and developing its technology for applications in heat transfer. Around two years ago, OnS began investigating whether its coatings could improve the performance of water electrolysers. Green hydrogen is produced by water electrolysis using renewable energy. Green hydrogen is set to have a very significant role in global de-carbonisation.
OnS is seeking to augment its existing board with an additional member (NED or consultant/adviser) who will bring strong commercial expertise, ideally in the market for hydrogen electrolysers but certainly within the wider hydrogen economy. The key contribution being sought is to help the company navigate the options that exist for commercial exploitation of its technology in this field. These options include manufacturing electrodes, offering the coating as a service and/or licensing the technology to electrolyser manufacturers.
The Company is open-minded about whether the successful candidate would be appointed as a non-executive director or as an expert advisor/consultant. The Company anticipates the role will require circa 12 days per year. The role holder must have the flexibility to fit in with the culture of a privately funded, SME (under 10 FTEs).
