Job Description
Biorelate curates truths in science to make research and development smarter and faster. They are developing an AI technology platform to extract more value from existing science texts, 80% of which are not used. The data curation services have been in operation for 3 years, predominantly helping world leading biomedical companies advance early stage drug discovery programs. Now they are launching the first in a range of products aimed at expanding our outreach in this sector utilising the data, technology and expertise we have accumulated so far.
They are a small, but growing team made up of extremely talented computer scientists, bioinformaticians, product developers, biomedical curators and experienced industry professionals. Recently they closed a large second investment round from Catapult Ventures, Maven Ventures and 6 angel investors part of the Manchester Tech Trust after exceeding initial milestones. To help get them to the next level and ensure they reach the ambitious global targets set they are now seeking a world-class Chairman and experienced Non-Executive Directors.
Applicants must have previous relevant board experience and be a strong powerful voice and mentor to the founder and also CEO. The role holders must demonstrate collaborative leadership qualities and have a track record in growing successful companies both within the UK and then in expanding into global markets. Experience of acquisitions, exits and strategic partnerships is sought along with being well networked, preferably within their target market (early stage drug discovery). Experience developing products alongside services would be advantageous.
The role holders must be UK based, preferably in the North West where their Manchester head office is located, although individuals located elsewhere will be considered.
Preferred individuals will typically have an entrepreneurial background (business development ideally) in drug discovery informatics, bioinformatics, big data analytics, AI, or natural language processing related industries.
