Our client is a highly successful business with a track record making biology and chemistry labs safer and more effective.

The Product Manager will be responsible for identifying and executing the product growth strategy for the business.  Through gaining customer insights and market analysis, the  role holder will develop the business plan for product & service development and see successful projects through the development & launch process and product life cycle management – ultimately taking responsibility for the product line success.  The Product Manager will need to work exceptionally collaboratively across the business and with external parties.

The key aspects of the role are to undertake Market, customer & competitive analysis, in order to identify attractive market opportunities for the company. The role holder will undertake business plan preparation for product/service development and  deliver customer-outcome based specifications for new product & service development. Part of this requires the role holder to work closely with the applications development team to define areas of work relevant to customers.

The aim is to deliver new product & service offerings, through internal and external partners through Marketing and launch planning for new products & services and effective product lifecycle management post-launch.

The role holder will be responsible for top- and bottom- line performance of new products & services against the business plan; key will be equipping the sales team with the skills, knowledge and tools to effectively sell the products & services and by planning and supporting the execution of the marketing campaigns to maximize product revenue. Part of the remit will also be Product (& corporate) brand development.

The role demands  significant expertise of working in a product manager role for scientific instrumentation and ideally a BSc. in Chemistry, Biological Sciences or Biochemistry – MSc. or PhD. qualification would be preferred. The role holder will have demonstrated capability in gathering relevant market & customer insight. The ability to write customer-outcome based product specification documentation is required. The role holder must possess exceptional cross-functional working and project management experience, allied with indirect team leadership. Familiarity with working within an Agile development environment would be most useful as well as the ability to use external and internal data sources to deliver evidence-based, data driven decision making.
