Job Description

The Smarter Food Company (TSFC) was founded to develop and exploit a series of unique and proprietary developments in food and nutritional bioactives.

This is a part-time position which may be executive until a full-time CEO has been appointed, with key responsibilities being to assist the board of TSFC in formulating a strategy for the development of a world-class business and attract a world-class leadership team.

Working with the existing investor the role holder will lead fundraising activity for the business, ensuring the company has the appropriate level of capital and resourcing to realise its objectives.  Supported by the COO and scientific founder the Chairman will serve as the commercial face and voice of the company, opening doors and taking the lead on partner relationship development and raising the profile of TSFC within the food industry and the healthcare sector.

The role requires someone who has led or has played a strategically commercial role in a successful FMCG products based business (ideally within the food or supplements sector). An understanding and appreciation of the connections between food and health, and the role of diet in the promotion of health and the prevention of disease is required. In addition a clear understanding of the importance of clinical data in relation to product validation within the healthcare sector is required.

The role holder must bring a strong track record in creating successful, commercial relationships amongst top-tier companies within the FMCG (especially food or food supplement) sector. A background of being a Senior executive experience in small companies and/ or P&L responsibility for a business unit of a larger company is required. Expertise in supply chain establishment and management would be a significant advantage.
