Job Description

Our client, Hitachi High-Technologies Europe is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate with skills in transmission electron microscopy to support their customers performing advanced materials research.

The role will be based for the  majority of the 1st year with the Hitachi High-Technologies Europe Distribution partner in Istanbul Turkey. The successful candidate will also be asked to support the sales organisation in other EU markets from time to time. After the 1st year the headcount will possibly be reassigned to the main company based in the UK or Germany where the role holder will continue to provide applications expertise to the sales teams and wider EU customer base.

The role will support customers in doing better electron microscopy and collaborate with team members on electron microscopy techniques to support the development of new technology for the future. The role holder will also be required to present and report research results and publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals.

The position requires a PhD in materials science, condensed matter physics, chemistry or a related field completed within the last 5 years and have a solid background in electron microscopy and structural characterization. Hands-on experience in aberration corrected electron microscopy and electron energy-loss-spectroscopy is ideally required.

The client is open to applicants globally and work permits will be supported.

The successful candidate will start with an initial period of training at the company’s HQ specialist facility in Japan so willingness to travel is essential.
