Our Client is a Pharmaceutical Development Company targeting unmet medical needs in fibrosis and oncology using drug repurposing. They currently have 2 assets in house and one recently licensed.
The Company is seeking an experienced Business Development Professional with a track record of licensing deals in the Pharmaceutical Industry. The Candidate will work closely with the Executive Chairman to optimise a strategy of fostering trust and credibility with clients through carefully coordinated Business Development activities that lead to new and sustainable business relationships.
The key will be to take responsibility for all Strategic Business Development activities within the Company to ensure it understands its Commercial Opportunities. The role holder will manage commercial activities according to agreed plans and to communicate progress and issues with the Board. The key will be initiating, maintaining and managing relationships at appropriate levels with prospective and actual partners, and to manage the licensing process with potential partners – defining and marketing the opportunity, managing external discussions, structuring and negotiating the deal, and managing the agreement drafting and closing process.
The role requires an experienced, high calibre International Business and Commercial Development Professional, with a track record of delivering deals through complex and flexible deal-making. You will be able to demonstrate consistent success in closing deals either directly or as part of a team-based sell (such as working with the Executive Chair and technical experts). The ideal Candidate will also have the ability to step up to a more strategic (CEO) role if they can demonstrate the right level of commitment, performance and abilities.
The immediate role requires good scientific credentials, qualifications ideally in Life Sciences to PhD level and a commercial qualification, MBA or other relevant business qualification would be helpful. The key is an extensive contacts list within the target segments, to supplement the Company’s existing customer base and network of opportunities. In particular with discovery groups in big pharma, mid-size pharma, and biotech’s in the UK, Europe, US and Japan. A proven deal sheet with a track record of meeting agreed targets is required as is experience in developing and implementing a business and marketing strategy.
